The mechanisms of heavy metals distribution in soils of PC “Ilyich’s Percepts” are determined on the basis of experimental data of heavy metal monitoring on the territory of Leningradsky region of Krasnodar Territory. Temporal variations of heavy metals are analyzed, analytic characteristics of their accumulation intensity are calculated and the models of short-term and long-term prognosis are developed.

A new instrumental method for express evaluation of the capillary-sorption capacity of soils as a function of humidity, the essence of which is to use a centrifugal field to increase the outflow of gravitational water in the distribution of samples in the form of soil columns. In contrast to the classical method of high columns, the use of centrifugal force, increasing the effect on soil moisture gravitational factor, reduces the height of specimens from several meters to the characteristic size of the centrifuge tubes (10 cm). Compared to the previously proposed method of equilibrium centrifugation, this method allows us to obtain almost continuous water-retentive curve after rotation of the soil columns by 1-2 stages of the experiment with a constant number of revolutions of the centrifuge. Development is easy to use, high accuracy and reliability in obtaining the dependence of capillary-moisture sorption capacity of its content in soil in a wide range of full field capacity to wilting point moisture. Method, in essence, simulates the really existing in the soils of the process of distribution of moisture in the soil profile after gravity drainage (to achieve field capacity) and its results can be used for information and settings of modern soil hydro-physical models such as HYDRUS.

A theoretical justification of the original field method for estimating methane fluxes from the surface of bogs in the winter time on the stationary profile distribution of its concentrations in the snow column is developed. It is shown that the stationary profile for the case of inactive towards methane snow thickness as well as the assumption of equilibrium adsorption of gas frozen water must have the form of linear dependence. We derive theoretical formulas that allow the parameters of this dependence, the data on the porosity of the snow and the effective diffusion coefficient of methane in the snow-thickness to calculate methane emissions from wetland soils. An example of a practical evaluation of a new method in comparison with the data of the standard method of closed chambers is discussed.

The method of the marker-species selection for entomological refuges is offered on example of noctuid family (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae) for their including into the regional Red book. Entomological refuges are considered as parts Specially Protected Natural Territories (OPNT) or Key Natural Territories (KNT) with emphasis on entomofauna. The marker-species selection based on a data of the long-term monitoring of Noctuidae family during 1972-2010, presenting the material for objective analysis: 93145 ex., 439 species from 83 catching sites. On the first stage the extended list of rare and local species is formed, basing on statistics account: not more than 2 ex. per one-shot light-collecting, no more than from 10 sites, not more than 10 catches during the whole period of the studies. On the second stage the additional criteria are included for selection: ecological preference of species, the first and the last dates of catches, supposed total area of inhabitance. On the third stage goes species rejection, which are not corresponding to determination of “marker-species”. The final list includes 82 Noctuidae marker-species for the Rostov-on-Don  area.

The data obtained from space images showed the tendency of increasing the upper-line of orohylile deciduous forests distribution in the western direction. It evidences the great impact of continental climate on the timberline that expresses by temperature changes: increasing summer and decreasing winter temperatures as well as by lowering thickness and duration of snow cover accumulation without significant changes in annual temperatures for this high-altitude level. There is no change in increasing the upper-line of the forest that could be the consequence of intensive pasturing on the southern slopes where the upper-line was lower. Relative consistency of high position of the upper and the bottom lines of the investigated forests shows the positive effect of natural factors on the process of upper-line formation in forests nowadays.
