Responce of a subalpine meadows of the Abadzesh mountain (Lagonaki upland, West Caucasus) to 15 years of the rest from livestock grazing is analysis. The following changes are discovered: 1) dominant species, adapted to grazing (Bromopsis variegata and Agrostis planifolia), were replaced by primary dominant (Calamagrostis arundinacea); 2) many succession species and species, adapted to grazing, decreased in frequency; 3) some climax species increased in frequency; 4) species richness of meadow communities significantly decreased.
